This video demonstrates aortic valve replacement using a right anterior thoracotomy approach by Dr. Mattia Glauber at Sant’ Ambrogio Hospital in Milan.

It demonstrates direct aortic and femoral venous cannulation.
Direct aortic cannulation avoids all of the problems related to retrograde flow. LivaNova’s Easy Flow cannulae is ideal for remote insertion thanks to a malleable obturator that can be bent for easy introduction, and that is designed with progressive stiffness for improved stability. The femoral cannulation was made with LivaNova RAP venous femoral cannula, a dual-stage cannula with optimal drainage capability from both the superior and inferior vena cava, eliminating the need for a second cannulation site.
